Just before I left Seattle, I had a chance to stop by the bytecoin mint, and picked up a fistful of these:
They’re worth whatever you can barter them for, and are denominated in 5, 10, and 20 notes, with Lady Ada Lovelace on the 10 (I haven’t seen the 20)
They’re unrelated to bitcoins, unless you trade somebody bytecoins for bitcoins (which I have now done). At this point, there are two ways to get them: either do business with someone in San Francisco who owns bytecoins via me, or contact Andy Filer in Seattle. Here’s his post on making them
